Diet A-Z: Detox Diet (the secret detox) – What, Why and Review

Detoxing your body means removing lots of nasty things inside your body, such as toxins, by consuming particular foods and drinks. Differnt detoxes have differnt foods and drink you must take, and often very different results. Not everyone finds detoxing makes a huge differnce for them but for others it can make them feel like a new person.

The Secret Detox Diet (found here), makes some rather large claims, not only about what it can do but also about how bad your body is right now. With slogans such as live for longer and lose lots of fat without dieting, i thought it would be interesting to put this detox diet to the test.

How do you do the Secret Detox Diet?

Firstly you go to the page listed above and buy the doctors ebook. Its around $35 at time of writing – quite steep perhaps, but easily worth it if it lives up to its claims. But does it?

Lets quickly look at some more of its claims, as they are very interesting.

We are all fat apparently, not because we eat too much or the wrong foods, but because there are lots of parasites inside us that make us fat! Luckily a good detox likes this will wash them all out. Not the most convincing of claims to be honest, but coupled with the pictures on the site it suddenly becomes a lot more really and viable. But the truth is we all have parasites in us anyway, just they are not usually harmful as far as i know. The other statement that was of interest to me was that our bodies are lines with plague that is presumably slowly stopping blood flow and such, and slowly killing us. The detox also sees to that. Great!

Now sadly i cannot go into how to do the diet in great detail here as the information must be purchased, but i will tell you it is a natural detox – plants, herbs and that kind of thing. You only need to go on it for a matter of days but it will means a few days of huner (not starvation), or it did for me.

Results

Well a week after going on the detox i did feel better and i was down a few pounds (5 pounds). Did i lose parasites and plague along the way? Well to be honest i have no idea but i like to think i did. I will recommend this detox, but i cannot vouch for its claims even after completing it. Infact it was the weight loss and the extra energy i gained that really impressed me. Shame they didnt just concentrate on that on the main page of info. Once you are off the detox you are recommended to go back on to a healthy diet so whether the continuous weight loss was due to detoxing or going back to my healthy dieting i cant say. I do think its worth ago though, especially if you have never detoxed before!

Diet Review – The Truth About Six Pack Abs

This site has been looking at a lot of weight loss diets recently so i thought it was time to do something different. This review looks at a product that is meant to get you a flat, muscular stomach whether you are a woman or a man. It is supposed to finally get rid of that stubborn belly fat and spare tyre, what foods you are eating that are totally wrong and the only exercises that really will help you tone your stomach.

The Truth About Six Pack Abs (TTASPA)

The truth about six pack abs is 106 pages of unique and very useful content. Everything that is promised in the book can be accomplished by anyone who is motivated and will stick with it. But of course, its not easy to be motivated for a long period of time. Do not worry if you have a lot of weight to lose – this is not just about toning, this is about losing weight in a different way to most of the diets reviewed here.

And whilst i agreed with most of the content ( i have read this e-book, and been on the course for only two weeks so far), i did not like how it said that long term diets do not work. I presume this was just a way of promoting TTASPA and so i ignored it and i would urge you to as well.

The exercises in the manual do not require you to go to the gym and really do work. I was aching a lot the day after i began. I did have to invest in a pair of dumbbells that i ordered of amazon, to make the most of certain exercises.

I have only lost a couple of pounds so far since begining these exercises, but i have gained some muscle. I have to do my belt up an extra notch now and as such, i am very happy with the two pounds of weight loss as muscle weighs more than fat anyway.

The truth about this book is, it will work but it is not a short cut to getting a six pack. It will get you there but not for a few months, and even that would depend on your starting weight.

What you would really gain from this ebook is a fantastic foundation for bewing able to maintain a near perfect body for the rest of your life. There are literally dozens of work out options for you to choose from that would suit both beginner and intermediates. It will give you a decent diet plan telling you what to eat and what to avoid. (eg protien in, fat out).

I will be sticking with this diet, but it does have a couple of problems. As i mentioned earlier, i do not like how it dismisses long term diets, when the whole thing with TTASPA is long term exercise and diet anyway. The other problem it has is the price – almost  $40. Yes, it probably is worth it but i dont have a clue why it couldnt have been a bit less.

Ignoring the price. it actually compares favorably with other fat loss diets such as Fat Loss for Idiots, with the advantage of it getting your stomach toned as well as helping you lose fat.

List of Negative Calorie Foods – Lose Weight by Eating

Any food that makes you lose more calories than you put on just by eating them are no good for an entire diet, (it would result in malnutrition) but as snack foods these things can be fantastic. These foods are also known as negative calorie foods. Usually it means the foods have calories, but so few of them that your body spends more than it gains eating and digesting them.

Celery – Quick example

Celery is a fantastic snack food. A single stick of celery contains around 4-6 calories. You will use about 10-12 eating it. Fresh celery tastes great, can be eaten raw with no preparation and will fill you up (eventually) as it contains lots of water – a great appetite suppressant.

List of Negative Calorie Foods

Berries (certain berries such as blue berries at least)

Cabbage

Celery

Cucumber

Garlic

Grapefruit

Grapefruit

Green beans

Hot Chilli’s

Lemon

Lettuce

Radish

Spinach

Tomato

Turnip

Water Melon

Cardboard (its edible just about, is negative in calories but really not recommended!)

These are most of the negative calorie foods. There are others people claim are negative calories, such as apples , peaches and plums but it seems unlikely considering they usually contain around 100 calories.

Try and replace sweets with sticks of celery, puddings with a slice of watermelon, your usual snacks with a slight salad made up of a few of the above, etc.  If you do this it will really be a bonus to your diet. Just remember not to replace proper meals with them!

Raising You Body to a Higher Metabolism – The Key to a Successful Diet

Metabolism is the bodies process of using up energy (calories, fat, etc.). The higher your metabolism is the more you can eat without putting on weight, theoretically. There for, raise your metabolism whilst eating the same amount of calories as usual and you should burn more fat. Easy hey? But how do you go about increasing your metabolism?

Eat Four Small Meals a Day

If you want to keep your calorie burning levels high, you have to get your metabolism working. To do this you must eat or drink or exercise.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as they say, and they are quite right. The sooner you have your breakfast, the sooner your body begins to burn fuel. A small healthy breakfast such as fruit is the best possible start.

After a few hours (3-4) your metabolism will begin to lower again and it is time for your next small meal. What you are aiming for, to maximise your fat burning, is to eat four small meals over the course of a day. These meals should add up to your usual amount of calories. Just changing how often and what time you eat those calories will really aid your weight loss. Caffine will also raise your metabolism so try to drink a glass or two of black coffee a day – it will also cleanse your body as it is a diuretic.

Small amounts of exercise

Just as quick burst of exercise, such as running up the stairs to your office or bedroom will get your heart pumping and your metabolism roaring. Do what you can where you can. Park a bit further away than usual to your house or work place and walk or jog the rest of your journey. Get off the bus one stop earlier. Just try to do little bits here and there. It will really add up.

Build Muscle

The more muscle you have, the more energy/calories your body will naturally burn up during the day. A pound of extra muscle will make a huge difference, and once you have put the muscle on you do not need to do anything extra to burn up the extra calories.

Drink 8 Glasses of Water a Day

Recommended by health experts, boosts your metabolism, raises your immunity levels, and washes out all the bad stuff from your body. Not bad for water hey?

Why a bit of muscle means a lot less fat!

Ok first things first, you can not turn fat into muscle no matter what anyone tells you! Unfortunately fat and muscle are two completly seprate things inside your body. What you will have to do is put on muscle whilst losing fat. Ok, now that we have cleared that up lets talk about the benefits of slightly increasing your muscle mass.

Putting on muscle is so so important if you are serious about losing weight and looking good. Infact let me change that sentace, – if you are serious about losing Fat and looking good. Because putting on muscle mass may actually mean you weigh more than before but you will definately look better. Which is one of the two big reasons to put on muscle…

Reason number 1 – You will look toned and slimer!

Even if you dont lose your fat (which you will), your body will benefit from increased muscle by becoming toned and tight. Your muscles will pull your stomach and flab up into place so no more drooping fat. People find more muscley men and women more attactive. If you are female you will only want to tone, not put on so much that you are bulging with muscle.

Reason number 2 – You will burn more fat… By doing NOTHING!

Muscle takes a lot more energy to run that fat. So the more muscle you have the more fat you will Naturally burn up during the day – even if you do nothing at all. It takes a lot of calories to sustain muscle, and if you are not eating a lot your body will take this from your fat storage deposits.  So muscle equals automatic fat burning!
